Sea Star Academy and Mary Winspear Centre present Sea Star Academy Ages 8-18 Sea Star Academy is a professional, performance-driven musical theatre training program for young performers. Students receive expert instruction in singing, acting, and dance technique — the three pillars of a true triple threat — in a supportive, high-quality environment designed to build confidence, discipline, and versatility. The Academy runs as a 14-week program made up of two 7-week terms. The first term focuses on training and technique in all three disciplines, with everything connected to an end-of-term production. The second term shifts into rehearsals, culminating in a fully staged show on December 19th — two performances for family and friends to enjoy! Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm–6:00pm at the Mary Winspear Centre, with students attending one day per week during the technique term. Term begins September 9th. THE IMPROVISERS A Touring Stand-up & Improv Comedy Show. THE IMPROVISERS, some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians, take on your suggestions and create spontaneous comedy sketches right before your eyes. The show is a fun, variety filled, high energy comedy experience with performers who have been seen on CBC’s JUST FOR LAUGHS, CTV’s COMEDY INC, NBC’s LATE FRIDAY, CBC’s WINNIPEG COMEDY FESTIVAL, CTV’s COMEDY NOW, CBC’s HALIFAX COMEDY FESTIVAL and many more. Many of THE IMPROVISERS also perform with THE COMIC STRIPPERS, a parody comedy show that has been wowing audiences across the globe since 2011. Roman Danylo- Roman has appeared on CTV’s Comedy Now, Comedy Inc. and Corner Gas. CBC’s Just For Laughs, The Debaters, Winnipeg, Halifax Comedy Festivals and is the creator of The Comic Strippers. Peter Oldring- Peter is a multi award winning actor/comedian. He co-created the long running CBC Radio Show This Is That. He’s been seen on both the big and small screen many times and is an alum of The Second City. Richard Side - For CBC TV Richard created The Improv Comedy Games, The Western Alienation Comedy Hour (starring Brent Butt) and the hit radio show, The Debaters.
