Fishing, whale watching and combined trips from C dock at Discovery Harbour Marina in Campbell River, aboard a covered Grady White 265 Express with a private washroom and room for six. Fishing runs to chinook, coho, pink, sockeye and chum with all gear supplied; wildlife trips look for humpbacks and Bigg's orca. Longer day charters go out to the Discovery Islands and Desolation Sound.

Homalco Wildlife and Cultural Tours

Wildlife and cultural tours owned and run by the Homalco First Nation, leaving from the Island Highway in downtown Campbell River between April and October. Trips go up Bute and Toba inlets for grizzlies, out into the Salish Sea for humpbacks and orca, and there are sunset cruises and a People Water Land tour. A First Nation guide tells the stories on the way, and the enterprise puts its earnings behind Homalco language revitalisation.

Salmon charters out of Campbell River on 25- to 28-foot covered and heated boats with marine heads, and freshwater trips that use 13-foot self-bailing rafts on rivers, tin boats on lakes and jet boats where they suit. The guides hold Certified Tidal Angling Guide credentials and fish all five Pacific salmon plus steelhead and trout, by fly, drift or downrigger. There is also heli fishing, and a women-only fly fishing and spa package.

Two Boston Whalers out of slip A7 at the Coast Marina in Campbell River — the larger one with a heated cabin, a private head and Starlink aboard. Trips start with a four-hour introduction at $440 and run through a five-hour half day at $1,050 to a full eight hours at $1,680, with multi-day trips from $3,360; gear, bait and fish cleaning are included. Besides chinook, coho, sockeye, lingcod and rockfish there is guided Tyee fishing, catch-and-release, and wildlife runs to Seymour Narrows and Mitlenatch Island from $440. The season is May through October.
