This year brings seven extraordinary performances by internationally acclaimed artists whose collective achievements include JUNO Awards, GRAMMY nominations, Polaris Music Prize honours, and Academy Award nominations. An Oji-Cree singer-songwriter from the Sucker Clan of Sandy Lake First Nation, Aysanabee has emerged as one of the defining voices in contemporary Canadian music. His breakthrough album Watin—named in honour of his grandfather—introduced audiences to deeply personal songs exploring family, identity, intergenerational resilience, and healing. His sophomore release, Here and Now, made history at the 2024 JUNO Awards when he became the first Indigenous artist to win both Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
