Cornett (COR) B107. “The SuperKEKB/Belle II project: Pioneering the precision frontier to explore particle physics in the early universe ” Just as deep mysteries have historically triggered paradigm shifts in physics, the profound mysteries of the universe now compel particle physics to establish a new theoretical framework beyond the Standard Model—one capable of describing the very high-energy particles of the early universe. With no consensus yet on the field’s next guiding principles, discovering new particles or phenomena is crucial to opening the door to a new era of physics. The Belle II experiment has the potential to discover physics at very high energy scales—otherwise directly unreachable by current accelerator technology—through high-precision measurements that exploit its unique experimental features. We are now driving the frontier of precision measurements across a diverse range of topics, including heavy-flavor quarks and leptons, the dark sector, and hadrons. These measurements rely on the vast datasets provided by the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. SuperKEKB has achieved the world’s highest luminosity (the beam collision performance), powered by the novel “nano-beam” collision scheme and other pioneering technologies, and continues to push its performance boundaries. It also serves as a vital demonstrator for a future Higgs factory. Furthermore, major upgrades of the accelerator and detector planned for the long shutdown starting in 2032 will extend the Belle II physics
