The 3 rd annual “Homecoming” showcases several successful artists originally from Sidney who have gone on to impressive careers and significant achievements in the world of performing arts. On Thursday October 15 th 2026, a unique event will take place at Mary Winspear Theatre. The 3 rd annual “Homecoming” will feature award winning vocalists and other notable musical acts from several different genres, all with common roots in Sidney BC. Besides being an evening of topflight entertainment, “Homecoming” is also a fundraiser, with proceeds from the concert and silent auction going to the Fine Arts Department of Parkland Secondary School. “It’s our way of giving back and of saying thanks for all the support and encouragement during those early years”, says Diane Pancel who will be on the bill and is also an alumni member. M usicians on the bill include cabaret star Diane Pancel, opera sensation Sunny Shams, drummer Terry James, saxophonist Jerry Cook, singer songwriter Daniel Cook, Singer/Songwriter and author Leslie Gentile, and special guest artist and Sidney residents, Ashley Wey and Louis Rudner. Sea Star Academy and Mary Winspear Centre present Sea Star Academy Ages 8-18 Sea Star Academy is a professional, performance-driven musical theatre training program for young performers. Students receive expert instruction in singing, acting, and dance technique — the three pillars of a true triple threat — in a supportive, high-quality environment designed to build confidence, discipline, and versatility. The Academy runs as a 14-week program made up of two 7-week terms. The first term focuses on training and technique in all three disciplines, with everything connected to an end-of-term production. The second term shifts into rehearsals, culminating in a fully staged show on December 19th — two performances for family and friends to enjoy! Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm–6:00pm at the Mary Winspear Centre, with students attending one day per week during the technique term. Term begins September 9th.
