Join the Victoria Downtown Residents Association to hear from candidates for Mayor of Victoria on a variety of issues related to living in the Downtown neighbourhood. Continuing our series of successful mayoral debates held since the 2014 municipal election, we will be holding our fourth on September 27. Our moderator for the evening will be journalist Shannon Watters, reprising her role from 2022. Stay tuned for details about which candidates will be participating. Advance registration is recommended . Click here to reserve your seat. There will be nominal entrance fee of $5 to help cover organizing costs, including live captioning. If cost of attendance is a barrier, please contact engage@victoriadra.ca . The debate will be live-streamed on Zoom and YouTube. Click here to register for the Zoom meeting . ** Please avoid wearing perfume, cologne or other scented products. ** Accessibility details: The Vic Theatre is fully wheelchair accessible, including an accessible washroom. There will also be a gender-inclusive washroom available during the debate. Captioning services will be provided, with captions projected on the screen behind the debate participants and also available online for those watching remotely. The theatre will be a scent-reduced, alcohol-free space for this event. We encourage those who are able to walk, cycle or take public transit to the debate. manulife building. On Wednesday, September 9th, Victoria will become a city of Superheroes! Be one of over 50 people who will rappel 13 stories down the Manulife/CIBC Building. All to help raise funds for children and families with disabilities. Register as an individual, create a team or take the Drop Zone challenge with your friends, family or colleagues. You’ll get your own personal fundraising page with tools to invite others, spread the word, share your photos and fundraise for Easter Seals. Your fundraising commitment is only $875/person! It’s an incredible experience you don’t want to miss out on! Plus, you’ll have bragging rights for a year, maybe choose to wear a Superhero costume, take in the gorgeous views and of course, make a difference! You must be at least 19 years old on the day of the event to participate. Registration fee: Participants are required to contribute a $50 donation, which will be added to their fundraising minimum.
