November is Métis Month , a time to recognize and celebrate the rich history, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Métis people and communities. Throughout the month, we can take the opportunity to learn more about Métis heritage, from traditional art, music, dance, and storytelling to the important role Métis people have played in shaping the history of Canada. November also includes Louis Riel Day on November 16 , a day to remember the Métis leader and his lasting impact on Métis rights, identity, and history. This month, we honour the stories, strength, and vibrant cultures of Métis communities, past and present. 🧡

Sunday, September 27 | 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Join Port Hardy Recreation and the Quatse Salmon Centre for a free, family-friendly day celebrating our rivers, salmon and the incredible ecosystems that surround us. Come learn more about salmon, local rivers and conservation , check out the Adopt a Salmon program , enjoy hands-on activities for the whole family and explore everything the Salmon Centre has to offer. We’ll also be firing up the grill for a hot dog BBQ by donation , with proceeds going back to support the Salmon Centre and its programs. Please bring cash for the BBQ. Bring the family, explore, learn something new and spend the day celebrating all things rivers and salmon with us!
