The MV Frances Barkley is a 36-metre ship built in Norway in 1958, still working as a packet freighter out of Argyle Street in Port Alberni with room for 144 passengers and 100 tons of cargo. She sails Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday year-round, leaving at 8am, reaching Bamfield at 12:30pm and back by 5pm, calling at the Kildonan post office and Haggard's Cove on the way. A return to Bamfield is $95, Kildonan or Haggard's Cove $77; children 8 to 15 go half fare and under-sevens free.
