Chancellor Buller is a distinguished Indigenous legal scholar and member of the Mistawasis Nêhiyawak Cree First Nation. She was the first First Nations woman appointed as a judge in British Columbia and later established and presided over the province’s First Nations Courts, now known as Indigenous Courts. From 2016 to 2019, she served as Chief Commissioner of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. A Member of the Order of Canada, Chancellor Buller is also a recipient of a UVic ɬíɬəl ʔa kʷs ƛ̓kʷəxnəq Skʷukʷəlstəŋəƛ̓ | SIÁMĆEȽ | Distinguished Alumni Award.
