About
Big Animal Encounters has been running the water off Campbell River and Comox for 30 years, since 1994. Trips head out through the Discovery Islands archipelago, the Salish Sea and Desolation Sound in search of humpback whales, killer whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea lions and seals — with a captain and a marine naturalist aboard and a hydrophone to listen in. Beyond whale watching, the company runs full-day grizzly bear expeditions to Bute Inlet, dive and fishing charters, and water taxi service.
