About Merridale Cidery & Distillery
Janet Docherty and a founding partner took over a run-down cidery at Cobble Hill in 1999, with backgrounds in law, finance and real estate rather than cider. It has since grown into a farm, distillery, farmhouse store and eatery. Her son Jason, who grew up on the property, is now General Manager. The farm is Biosphere Certified and partners with the BC SPCA Cowichan & District Community Animal Centre.
