About Helliwell Park
Helliwell Park covers St. John's Point on Hornby Island. Loop trails run through old-growth Douglas fir and Garry oak to high bluffs above the Strait of Georgia, at the northern entrance to Tribune Bay. Visit from late April to early May, when wildflowers carpet the slopes. The bluffs are fragile and very high, so stay on marked trails and well back from the edge. Flora Islet, just offshore, is part of the park and is one of only two places in the world where divers can see the rare sixgill shark.
